Miniature Burden Basket

Basket Weaver: Margie Robertson

Size: approximately 3" diameter and 3" deep with buckskin edging and fringe.                                        $25

In the old days, "burden baskets were made by the women for use as the name implies to carry burdens.  The long strap went over the shoulder and the basket was filled with whatever the burden happened to be.  Most likely berries, pinon nuts, acorns, etc.  A large basket, filled, could weigh 25 pounds or a little over ten kilos.  That would be a burden!  Today basket weaving is a lost art.
